چکیده

Isothermal phase diagrams for the semicrystalline poly-L-lactide (PLLA) and the amorphous poly-DL-lactide (PDLLA) in combination with several solvent-nonsolvent combinations (dioxane/water, dioxane/methanol, chloroform/methanol, and NMP/water) have been determined. The locations of the liquid-liquid miscibility gap, the solid-liquid miscibility gap and the vitrification boundary in the isothermal phase diagrams at 25OC were identified. The liquid-liquid miscibility gap for the systems with PLLA was located in the same composition range as the corresponding systems with PDLLA. For the systems containing PLLA solid-liquid demixing was thermodynamically preferred over liquid-liquid demixing. Attempts were made to correlate the experimental findings with predictions on the basis of the Flory-Huggins theory for ternary solutions using interaction parameters derived from independent experiments. Qualitative agreement was found between the theoretical predictions and the experimentally obtained liquid-liquid miscibility gap. No good agreement was found for the solid-liquid miscibility gap.

Phase transitions during membrane formation of polylactides. I. A morphological study of membranes obtained from the system polylactide-chloroform-methanol

The influence of solid-liquid demixing, liquid-liquid demixing and vitrification on the morphology of polylactide membranes has been investigated. To study the effects of crystallization of polylactides on the membrane formation and morphology, polylactides of varying stereoregularity were used. The polymers applied were poly-L-lactide (PLLA) and copolymers with different molar ratios of L-lact...

اثر افزودنی منیزیم- ویتون بر رفتار حرارتی مخلوط‌های ترمیتی Al/nm-CuO

Traditional thermites are generally composed of micron-Al particles. These kinds of thermites usually exhibit poor reactivity characteristics such as a poor heat release and high ignition temperature. In this research, the influence of Mg-Viton as additive on the thermal behavior of Al/CuO systems was verified using thermal analysis techniques. In this paper, thermite mixtures are prepared usin...

Exploring the Thermodynamic Aspects of Structure Formation During Wet-Spinning of Polyacrylonitrile Fibres

Wet-spun polyacrylonitrile fibres are the main precursor for high strength carbon fibres. The properties of carbon fibres strongly depend on the structure of the precursor fibre. Polyacrylonitrile fibres were spun from solutions with varying solvent/nonsolvent content and different draw ratios. Wet-spinning is an immersion precipitation process, thus thermodynamic affinity of spinning dope to t...

Metastable Liquid–Liquid and Solid–Liquid Phase Boundaries in Polymer–Solvent–Nonsolvent Systems

In general liquid–liquid demixing processes are responsible for the porous morphology of membranes obtained by immersion precipitation. For rapidly crystallizing polymers, solid–liquid demixing processes also generate porous morphologies. In this study, the interference of both phase transitions has been analyzed theoretically using the Flory–Huggins theory for ternary polymer solutions. It is ...

Drying Induced Phase Separation

Phase separation simulation study related to cellulose acetate-water-acetone has been done. Results show that porous asymmetric and symmetric membranes can be produced by changing the nonsolvent concentration or by the drying conditions without altering the polymer content using dry-casting process. Dry-casting process is the process in which complete evaporation of solvent and nonsolvent takes...
